Wet'n'Wild: The BEST day out in Sydney at the world's biggest water park
Wet’n’Wild Sydney is the world’s biggest water park with over 40 slides, attractions and state-of-the-art experiences for an awesome day out.
I headed down with a fab friend from Bournemouth Uni (yes, we both now live in Sydney, strange world!) and we had the most amazing time. I definitely felt like I was 27 going on 17 and loved it.
The facilities are top of the range in regards to parking, photos, merchandise and lockers – but you will have to pay extra for all of it. Food-wise there was lots of variety on offer including good proper coffee and falafel salads. Again, kind of pricey, but the water park is in the middle of nowhere so you’ll have to bring your own in from out of town if you want to be very well prepared and save some cash.
Unlike most water parks, Wet’n’Wild Sydney is ‘cardless’ and use these plastic wristbands called MyBands. This was brilliant.
If the queue looked a bit long we’d take advantage of the Tap’n’Play feature meaning we schedule out time to ride in advance and go eat, chill or whatever instead of waiting in line.
You can also use this to ‘pay-per-ride’ on some attractions like Sydney SkyCoaster (which looked like the biggest thrill but alas we didn’t try it). We did watch people go on it though, and you get strapped into a harness and raised 75 meters in to the air for an exhilirating free fall ‘swing’. It was pretty scary to watch! $60 for two.
Adrenaline junkies need to check out 360Rush for a 40ft free fall and 360 degree loop experience, or T5 (which we totally loved) which is inspired by a category 5 tornado!
Two to four people at a time can get on, and drop nearly 15 meters into the T5’s core before being spun through an 18m funnel, (sounds scary, it’s just incredibly thrilling!) and into the eye of the storm to the calm waters below.
Half Pipe was another awesome ride which features plenty of sharp bends before dropping you 16m into the Half Pipe itself.
The force is so great that you soar up the vertical wall of water as if you’re on a rollercoaster, then enjoy the exhilarating feeling of weightlessness from dropping down to the finish line.
After a few crazy rides we chilled on a makeshift beach, Australia’s largest wave pool with over 6,800,000 liters of water, which offered a pretty awesome seaside experience with fine white sand (and no sharks). We forgot for a moment we were actually in a water park.
There was ‘beach club’ music pumping out the speakers which made us feel like we’re on holiday and dance in between rides, and there was also motorcross riders doing ramp tricks and a live DJ which was awesome entertainment-wise.
But equally, the water park it’s perfectly set up for kids and parents with a huge special Nickelodeon area. Cabana hire would also be a nice idea if you were coming with little ones.
Wet’n’Wild is committed to the responsible management of water usage, which is pretty cool, subject to local water conditions, including improving water efficiency, reducing usage of town water supplies and increasing alternative water supply and recycling of water. You can find details about this on their website.
$69 is the cost for a full price adult ticket, with cheaper concessions options for seniors and kids, or there is also season membership options.
