25 Nov The Best Vegan Afternoon Tea in London You Need To Try!
Café Forty One is London’s only vegan French pâtisserie and they now offer vegan afternoon tea!
Situated at the minimalist boutique La Suite West Hotel near Notting Hill, the elegant restaurant opens up onto the hotel’s garden terrace which is ideal for al fresco dining.
Committed to presenting only the best contemporary vegan alternatives to French pâtisserie favourites, Café Forty One impresses hugely with the sandwich selection. It was a dream come true to sample.
This included chipotle cheese with caramelised onion chutney and rocket on rye bread, BLT with aubergine ‘bacon’ and mayonnaise on sourdough and Mediterranean hummus and cucumber on farmhouse loaf.
Vegan Afternoon Tea
The most impressive item on the tower of delights was the brioche roll with cream cheese and smoked carrot ‘salmon’
Witchcraft is my only explanation for the formation of that carrot into a slice of smoked salmon. I used to absolutely adore smoked salmon, and this was a delightful reminder of the smoky, silky flavour and texture.
Meanwhile the chipotle cheese on rye came in a close second; substantial, spicy, and very moreish.
Impressive Flavours For All Tastes
Café Forty One is for everyone, not just vegans, offering a cross between fine dining and café style ambiance. The menus are all completely vegan and focus on seasonal, healthy, fresh and sustainable ingredients.
We enjoyed the beautiful minimalist setting; peaceful and zen with pale walls and delicate blooms
This reminded us of being in a luxurious spa somewhere in the countryside and certainly not the middle of London.
Guests are welcome for breakfast, lunch, all-day desserts and afternoon tea as Café Forty One opens from 6.30am – 5pm. While it’s lovely for solo coffee breaks and business lunches, it’s absolutely perfect or a mum-and-daughter date for afternoon tea, which is served from noon.
Try It For Yourself
Cakes included a chocolate brownie, cinnamon swirl and delectable orange and carrot slice – as well as of course, classic scones with homemade jam and coconut cream.
A glass of alcohol-free bubbly and a hot drink (we went for oat milk hot chocolates) come included as standard.
Café Forty One offers a unique vegan dining experience. It is within walking distance of Portobello Market and Hyde Park, and showcases delicious and inspired vegan cuisine.
