Ammatara Pura: Pool villas in paradise
Deni and Vicky visit Ammatara Pura, a wondrous resort resembling an opulent Thai palace right on the beach on Thailand’s Ko Samui island.
Blinking our eyes open in a king-size bed as warm sunlight washed in from the floor-to-celining windows overlooking palm trees and our very own private infinity pool… was an experience beyond belief.
It had been five months since we’d seen each other, and here we were in bikini girl heaven on earth at Ammatara Pura Pool Villas on Ko Samui island in Thailand.
Owner, heiress Ying, had invited us to stay a few nights and simple the pleasures, delicacies and activities on offer.
Here are the highlights of our once-in-a-lifetime trip:
The gorgeous building
Ammatara is an independent, family-owned hotel which resembles a remarkable, majestic and opulent 200 year old ancient Thai palace.
Care has been taken to select fine art, decor and architecture from Northern and Southern Thailand.
It is truly a masterpiece and makes for a gorgeous setting for your holiday photos. Of course, utmost respect must be taken with the small temple in the middle of the resort.
Tasty, healthy food
The resort’s beachfront restaurant called Ammata serves a variety of à la carte menus with many Eastern and Western vegan and gluten-free options.
You can eat in the breakfast room, beachside restaurant or even order to your room.
We tucked into a wide choice of tofu dishes, veg dishes, soups, salads, smoothies and fruits, as well as soy-milk coffees and homemade soy yoghurt with coconut – not to mention lots of fresh coconuts all day long. And, of course, cocktails galore.
Our beautiful room
Each of the 18 large, luxury villas is set in its own private area with patio, balcony, swimming pool and jacuzzi.
The Sea View Villas face East, so we got to wake up from a relaxing sleep to welcome the first rays of sunshine and stunning ocean scenery.
The fitness facilities
There’s a gym, free yoga and barre studio too.
The open air yoga centre, also good for a sweaty barre session, comes with gorgeous, panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and emerald coloured ocean.
Ammatara guests can book a complimentary yoga session during their stay through the front desk.
Meanwhile the gym – also super gorgeous and luxury-looking – features the latest state of the art equipment.
Insta-goals location
These days it’s almost just as much about the holiday pics on social media as it is about actually enjoying yourself on holiday!
Well, here you get the best of both worlds.
Not only do you get ‘insta-goals’ surroundings everywhere you look within the resort, but just a few steps across and you’re by the scenic seaside.
All villas lead straight onto Lamai Beach, where we enjoyed a bikini photoshoot with an awesome local fashion and lifestyle photographer, Matt.
Love, Deni and Vicky xoxo
