Tash And Dev: Meeting Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman of A Bikini A Day
This weekend we met our idols; Instagram stars and best friends Natasha Oakley and Devin Brugman of the blog A Bikini A Day.
Disclaimer: This blog was written when this site was called Bikini Girls Diary.
Tash and Dev’s pictures and style are so classy and luxury, they’re my ultimate inspo. The vibe I get is fun, lively and incredibly sexy… but you (the male gaze) can’t get to within an inch of them and they’re pretty much as posh as royalty, so you can forget it. But you’re welcome to come and admire their lives and worship them.
*Thank you very much I’ll just carry on with that!*
For girls like us, I think they’re brilliant role models in a world of Instagram provocateurs. Not to trash other women or their choices, but Tash and Dev do the ‘revealing belfie’ in a tasteful Brazilian bikini bottom, in the Maui rainforest, captured by a female photographer. It’s just a different ball game with them. Let me put it this way –
Tash’s DAD was at the pop-up. I’d want my parents to see everything I post and be like, yep, that’s my girl!
My advice to young girls reading this is, if you want to look up to someone sexy on Instagram and try to emulate them, take after someone like them.
It’s the palazzo pants, the shoulder length blow dries, natural beauty and effortless confidence that just adds to their essence.
Anyway, they’re not simply a brand and images on social media but real people. And I felt so happy to finally meet them this weekend.
More recently, the blonde & brunette duo from the other side of the world founded a swimwear and activewear line called Monday Swimwear and Monday Active respectively.
But the beginning of Tash & Dev as we know them was A Bikini A Day – a blog and swimwear platform.
We share just the Bikini part, but just to clarify for new readers and those who don’t know, the name Bikini Girls Diary stems from the fact Vicky and I are Bikini Fitness competitors and writers. (I won first place in Miss Galaxy Universe and Vicky and I are seasoned physique models).
We are the Bikini Girls, and this is our Diary 🙂
This doesn’t mean we’re not inspired by ABAD. We totally are.
Now that I moved to Sydney, I was actually able to go and meet them at their pop-up shop on Mona Road this weekend.
I wore coat and trousers by Winser London – one of my favourite London brands – a wrap top and heels to catch up with the girls and finally get my hands on some Monday Swimwear.
It was a unique chance to nab 10% off and actually try it all on for size, as it’s usually available online only. I fell in love with the red and orange colourways from the new Paradise Found collection and bought the Portofino one piece for less than £84.
The girls were so nice and beautiful in real life; we posed for pictures together, had a lovely chat upon meeting, and then admired the bikinis I tried on and gave me some shopping tips.
I had an amazing day at the stunning Contemporary Hotels venue on the hot and sunny day. There were amazing floats on display in the pool, a fun photo booth and coconut water on tap.
I was super grateful Toby came to hold my hand, make sure I didn’t faint and take some fab pics. He knows how much I love them!
I also met the St Tropez Australia team which was awesome, as I worked a bit with the brand back in London.
Of course, and this is really important to mention, I massively missed my Bikini Girls Diary babe Vicky. This would have been a huge deal for her too but alas she is in London.
However, we will be reunited soon! Planning a trip in February out on this side of the world so stay tuned for the full announcement!
