26 Oct Best Nursing Friendly Activewear
As a breastfeeding mum, function is my top priority when it comes to browsing postpartum fashion. But if the outfit is cute too, then, I’m probably buying it! Below, I’ve listed the very best in nursing friendly postpartum sports and casual wear I’ve come across – with some great quality and affordable options – to see you through the fourth trimester and beyond.
Hotmilk
This brand for sexy, feelgood nursing lingerie has just brought out activewear and I couldn’t be happier. True to their signature style, the Hotmilk nursing-friendly fitness separates are flattering and versatile. The Focus Leggings, at $99.95, take you from pregnancy to nursing and postpartum with a genius fold-over waistband. Meanwhile, the Reactivate Sports Bra, at $79.95, offers ample support for high-impact workouts alongside breastfeeding-friendly functional details.
Big W hoodies
Yes, really! At just $30 this hoodie from Big W features long arms with thumb holes to keep your hands warm and protected from the sun while walking with the pram. There are vertical hidden zips at each boob allowing for a subtle latch anywhere, anytime. It comes in black and dusty pink, above.
Emamaco
A local Melbourne-based fashion designer with serious flare for flattering, functional and supreme quality garments, Emamaco is my top recommendation for sports crops. I wore her pregnancy leggings throughout my second and third trimesters, and the sports crops have been my staple since shortly after giving birth. Emamaco also do fantastic postpartum leggings and shorts plus other fashionable activewear separates.
Queen Bee
Queen Bee have an impressively wide and great quality selection of activewear, loungewear, lingerie and more. I love the crossover style maternity bras and postpartum leggings in versatile colours – both so flattering with just the right amount of support.
Gym Secrets
Another independent Australian business, Gym Secrets have two amazing sets of nursing friendly activewear in shades of on-trend wine red and sage green. I love the pockets on the leggings and the matching breastfeeding sports bras make it a really cute set.
Bfree
I have been living in my Bfree nursing bra since the third trimester through the fourth. The super soft bamboo material is just mind blowing. So comfortable, seamless (no lumps of bumps), while the engineering provides ample support at any size, and enough for gentle exercise like walking or yoga. This makes it ideal for your body when you’re on the verge of exploding at your largest, and after the birth alike. An absolute must-buy.
Non-nursing specific items and brands!
Skechers
yes, Skechers has launched activewear – and it is phenomenal. Amazing fit and style plus luxe materials. A very impressive debut collection. I’d highly recommend this tunic top for nursing mamas.
MyProtein
This brand is one of ny all-time favourites and MyProtein do not disappoint when it comes to breastfeeding-friendly versatility.
As a final note, when it comes to breastfeeding friendly activewear-type fashion, look for wrap tops, loose fits and deep necklines so you can easily pop a boob out to feed your baby. Also, there are plenty of nursing-specific tops with clips at the straps and double layers at the breast. Happy shopping x
