With our modern day non-stop lifestyle it’s no surprise more and more people are struggling to get a decent amount of sleep each night.
As a health professional I strongly advise my clients to take time out to relax and make sure they get adequate rest to help their bodies recover. However, recently I found myself joining them in the #UPALLNIGHTCLUB so decided to search for some great remedies to encourage sound sleep. By Vicky Hadley
An unusual solution that I actually love is an essential oils organic pillow spray. This beautifully scented spray creates a feeling of calmness as you gently drift off to sleep. Just spray your pillow and sheets 5 to 10 times and the gentle relaxing combination of Orange and Lemon oils with lavender and Geranium will help clear your mind allowing you to enjoy a peaceful sleep and awaken in a settled frame of mind. This is also suitable for sensitive skin (used in moderation) and we highly recommend it!

Have you ever worked up with neck pain and wondered where on Earth it came from? Well perhaps it’s not how you slept but what you slept on that caused it. Recently I tried Tempur Pillows after recommendations from my partner and I genuinely have never slept better! The price point is on the pricy side looking
At £85 for a pillow BUT my neck pain has dramatically reduced and if you see it as a investment for your health and keep it for years then really it’s a win win situation.
[title maintitle="" subtitle="REDUCE STRESS AND BOOST RELAXATION WITH THE POWER OF TOUCH"]
I recently had the pleasure of trying a Kokolokahki massage with lava shells by masseuse Sam who explained to me just how the power of the human touch is one of the most powerful healing remedies there is.
"Numerous studies have shown that a massage can eliminate stress levels dramatically. With stress being linked to so many illnesses it is imperative to take some time out so that all organs as well as the body can rest. Research found that after massage therapy, the human body secretes lower levels of the stress hormones cortisol, norepinephrine, and dopamine. These hormones not only make you feel anxious, which can be unpleasant, they can actually cause stress-related diseases – especially heart attack. Reducing their presence through massage, conversely, lowers stress hormones’ ill effects. After a massage, levels of the stress hormone cortisol drop in saliva tests, examinations show an improvement in alertness and relaxation, depression scores decrease, and mental focus improves.
Benefits of massage include:
Decreasing anxiety
Increasing the number of white blood cells
Lowering blood pressure
Increasing your feel-good hormones
Reducing your stress hormones
Helping you to sleep better
How massage can help improve sleep.
If you’re kept up at night worrying about stressful issues, massage may be the key to sounder sleep. The massage will decrease depression and anxiety levels and improve sleep quality because they trigger the release of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that can help you feel calm. While we sleep our bodies go into repair mode regenerating and healing plus if we have a good nights sleep it greatly improves our ability to deal with stressful situations the next day".
