15 Sep London Fashion Week: Edgy in all sizes and jewellery we love

This London Fashion Week, we report from two of our favourite events: Simply Be‘s catwalk show at Vinyl Factory and the Evra jewellery showcase at the Hari hotel.

London Fashion Week is the CRAZIEST week for fashion in London, taking place twice a year (for Fall and Spring collections).

And usually, Fall is the most important (anyone watch The September Issue?).

I’ve already checked out a few cool shows and events, and here is my edited scoop from the ones you NEED to know about…

SIMPLY BE

Fashion-forward clothing in sizes 10-26 was modelled by stars such as Tess Holliday

Simply Be’s The Curve Catwalk show on Thursday was incredible.

I loved the fashion-forward, bold and edgy collections, celebrity models including Tess Holliday, Hayley Hasselhoff and Felicity Hayward, and a super enthusiastic, super stylish FROW.

I caught up with Made In Chelsea star and fab model Ashley James (we both recently got involved with modelling for the upcoming Erdinger Oktoberfest).

From the clothes, I was obsessed with the wide leg trews and imitation fur coats. OMG!! Such as these palazzos and this furry <3

The fashion label has, for a long time, been the nation’s favourite (and most fashionable) plus-size retailer. But they’re now even more ‘size-inclusive’, championing girls of size 10 and above. Simply Be’s Curve Catwalk was the UK’s most size inclusive, featuring models from a size 10-26.

Their research actually showed that the vast majority of British women feel their size isn’t properly represented in ads, in fashion and the media, so they wanted their catwalk presentation to show fashion is for everyone regardless of size or shape.

Boss Angela Spindler said: ‘This isn’t about thin shaming – we just think it’s time we saw more diversity… The research clearly shows that having only one body ideal is impacting how people feel about themselves. Through the Curve Catwalk we want to celebrate curves and show that fashion is for everyone.’

Hayley Hasselhoff commented: ‘When the guys at Simply Be asked me to be involved I jumped at the chance. The brand empowers women to be themselves.’

She continued: ‘The Curve Catwalk is about representing beauty in all and empowering women to love themselves through fashion.’

EVRA JEWELLERY

The next day, Friday, I headed to THE event of the evening, a joint presentation with Evra jewellery and Anna Casa (interior designer).

Statement rings, necklaces and earrings were displayed in awe-inspiring fashion; on beautiful satin-topped tables with precious stones and huge amethyst rocks which complemented the rustic yet precious jewels perfectly.

Each Evra piece is handmade, exploring the merging of tradition and contemporary design. It’s the brainchild of Tamara Zantout, the designer behind the label, and she was so lovely in person. Tamara says she has always sought to merge together her childhood experiences in London as well as her unique Lebanese heritage.

Her background in architecture has made her quest for form a dedicated passion. Inspired by her quest for identity as well as her travels, Tamara seeks to infuse the cultures of East and West in her pieces. Each one is unique and incorporates real silver and gold, precious and semi precious stones.
